Great Balls of Fire....

Well I have been asked to post more often and as me and family will be in Texas over the next week I thought I would give you another new one to mull over during our absence. So where to begin....How about we talk about our Friday night. Once a month Kristena and I take advantage of the YMCA and drop our children off there for their parents night out. This last Friday was no exception. We joyously walked them through the door and ran like the the wind out of there to get a little quiet time. We always try to get some dinner and then shop for ourselves while they are in there. This time we hit our local Kohls. After loading our arms with nearly everything that we could carry we went to check out. First of all I have confirmed that Kohls will hire almost anybody. The all star we drew as our check out clerk had probably already maximized his career path based on his performance on this job. For example, as we were checking out he seemed quite confused when the register prompted him to check the shoe sizes. It took him some time to study the message. Then as the smoke from his ears began to fill the store and we all began to bust out our umbrella's as we were all sure the sprinkler system would be activated he made a decision and just cleared the message. Never did he crack open a box per the register's instructions. I am sure that the person that built the program that runs the register thought well we have made this idiot proof. That leaves me with only two conclusions either he cannot read and our school system let that fish escape the net or the more likely is that the register was not designed for new generation of idiots who can read but refuse to follow basic instructions.

This however was not the highlight. All through out the transaction I kept looking at Kristena and she had this really odd look. I thought she was in shock because of how much we had spent. But that was not it at all. It seems that while I was checking the shoe sizes for our brian surgeon he decided to right in front of her do a little scratch and shift. It seems that the boys downstairs must have been a little itchy and instead of waiting for a break after his customers left he decided to stir the boys and just keep right on scanning our clothes. The best part was when he finished ringing up our stuff he took the hand that he had been juggling his junk with grabbed the receipt and handed it to Kristena and said thank you with a sly little smile. She was so grossed out. Ever since I have tried to work the word balls into every sentence I can. When we got home on Friday I was setting at the table and sniffed the clothes we had just bought and said man what is the strange aroma. It smells a little ballish. Ain't I a laugh a minute. No wonder she feels so lucky to have married me.

Well on to a little more clean story. Saturday was big day at our house the two ladies of the house were both involved in a race. Kristena ran a 5K. Which is about 4.99K further than I can run. She did great. Kristena asked Kaitlyn if she wanted her to run with her, but Kaitlyn said "no mommy I can run by myself". Kaitlyn ran in the one mile fun run. Which oddly enough is about .99 miles further than I can run. Actually I take that back I would probably run a mile for a warm Krispy Kreme right now. I would stand there watching as it tumbled off of the conveyor belt as it hits its warm glaze bath then as it rolls out and the glaze begins to sit up they would peel it off and hand it to me. That I would run for. Anyway Kaitlyn ran that whole mile. The only time she slowed down was to mess with her hair that was bothering her. As she crossed the finish line she was given a medal. We were so proud of her! I think that the next time she is going to run with Kristena in the longer race. Mommy is a little afraid that Kaitlyn will beat her if they run together because she was haulin.

Tyler's highlight of the weekend was that we got him a new car seat. His old one was in need of a replacement as he had managed to stick his hand up in it and break off the stryrofoam inside of it. So we went to Target and got him a new one today. You would have thought that we bought him the best new toy in the world. While he was napping I assembled it and got it into the van. Kristena told him when he got up that he could go see it and his eyes lit up. As soon as we ate dinner we went for ride to sweep the van out and get a couple of things at the store. He could not wait. He sat back there the entire time playing with his new cup holder and sat with his little arms on the new arm rests. Kaitlyn kept trying to get him to trade her booster seat for his new car seat. He said "no deedee my new car seat". Anyway when we got home he did not want to get out he sobbed saying "no go bye-bye again". The only things that consoled him were some pretzels and a little mickey mouse. We are hoping that this means he will want to sit in it for 17 hours while we drive to Texas.

As a part of our public service announcement related to saving money at your local grocery store today Kristena went to Publix and the total before coupons and sales was $53.22 and after Kristena worked her magic we only ended up paying $11.12!!!! Ain't it amazing. She gets quite a rush from watching them knock the total down. The deal of the week was the shout which was a bonus size to start with and then when it was all said and done it was .42 a bottle. If you want to know how she did it let me know and she can post it when we get back. Anyway we will write more when we get back. Everyone have a safe week and say a little prayer for us as we travel to and from Texas.

Way to go Kaitlyn and Kristena!!!
Getting out of my car and to the house is exhausting for me.

So John, you and Tyler cheered from the sidelines and took pictures, good job.

Everytime I get you share the latest coupon adventure I feel like I need to have you shop for me down there and ship it here. It still would be cheaper.

Be careful driving to Texas and call me to let me know you made it.

Love, Mom

I could have sworn I posted a comment. I don't know what happened. Maybe when we come down in November I can bring my 3 wheel bicycle and stand a chance of competing with your 2 athletes. Great Job Kaitlyn. Thanks for calling tonight and letting Tyler whisper hi, it makes me feel like....well all the people I call and let Josh try to talk to.
Have a great night. Blog about your trip if nothing else.
