Santa Claus is coming to....

Well we took the kids to see that round, old elf and no they did not wonder into the bedroom while I was sleeping. No we went off to see Santa at our local library. We were going to take them to the mall to see him but the mall closest to our house requires us to put their bullet proof vests on and I have to wear one of those fanny packs with the zipper pocket in the front. Kristena looked forever for a money belt in XXXL all she could find was one pink fanny pack but that's okay safety first. The downer about the mall is that everyone and their brother is at the mall this time of the year and well they don't all bathe and use deodorant and then they want to cough and hack all over us and the kids. I find it hard to maintain my holiday cheer when the mom with the 17 kids with runny noses keep wiping their boogers on the back of Kristena's pants.

So what was I talking about.... Oh that's right our trip to see Santa Claus. Tyler was extremely excited to go see him, more because Santa was going to arrive on a fire truck than because he got to sit on his lap and tell him what he wanted for Christmas. Kaitlyn was excited to tell him wanted she wanted but she could not remember what she wanted. So as we waited outside for Santa, Tyler decided to make a new friend with the camera man for the library. He was about 50 or so and Tyler told him about Santa and that he was coming to our house and what he wanted for Christmas. And then as we heard the sirens in the distance they could barely contain their excitement. Unfortunately, we had to wait outside for him but luckily we were all bundled up in our....shorts!!!! Gotta love Christmas in Florida.

Once we got inside the children's librarian decided that it would be a great idea to make all of the kids sit down with Santa in the room and listen to two books being read by the assistant librarian. What she failed to do was instruct her young granddaughter to wait until Mimi was finished reading before running circles around the room with snot shooting from her nose and as Mimi read the stories the child interrupted with each page turn with shouts of "MIMI, MIMI". This would have been cute but the child was starting high school (just kidding she was probably only nine). Of course our kids know better Tyler just waited until the room was quiet and whispered to Kristena "I don't like Mrs. Claus, I only like Santa Claus". We don't believe that this will effect what Santa will leave him but you never know what kind of influence the wife has on the husband!

After this the kids finally got the chance to sit on Santa's lap and both got to share with him what the really wanted for Christmas. Tyler wants a rocket ship like the one on Higgly Town Heroes and Kaitlyn wants a camera and a bag to put it in. What we failed to tell Tyler before he sat on Santa's lap was that just because he asked for the rocket ship did not mean that he got it that very night. This realization was a hard one and required him to be removed to the van until he settled down.

Well that is it for now. We will post post Christmas. We are trying to come up with a plan to continue the magic of Santa Claus and we will let you know if we were successful. Merry Christmas everyone and remember we always love cash or gift cards!!! : ) No seriously we do....

Hi John and family.Nice pictures. Who played Mr.& Mrs. Santa? Reading all of your blogs about the excitment of Christmas, makes me remember the excitement of Christmas when I was a kid. There were eight of us kids and the boys would make us girls waite until they were ready to go down stairs. We would line up according to age. Most of us really believed in santa. It was the only time we had an orange. The smell of an orange made it seem like Christmas every year. We always strang pop corn and put on a tree. And we made a lot of our decorations. It sounds like the excitement is running up at your house. Wish we could share in you excitement. Love, Grandma
