My wife tells me that I crack her up because things that are embarassing to most people are to me just a part of life. And because we are for the most part family let me share a few of my most recent embarrasements: (more to follow I am sure)
Do you like to sing? I do. I love to sing. I sing in the shower, I sing in the car, I sing in the office and I often sing when I am in the bathroom at home or at work. The other day I was enjoying my aftenoon "break" in what I thought was an empty bathroom. Well it was empty what I did not realize is that the walls that separate the bathroom and the people that work for me were very thin. After making my "deposit" I walked out of the bathroom(yes mom I washed my hands first) I was greeted by most of my team standing there clapping for my wonderful performance of the Brady Bunch theme song. I took my bow and returned to my seat. I guess they must have liked it. Look out American Idol here I come!!!
As I have gotten older the little details of life seem harder to focus on. Such things as do my socks match, did I button all of the buttons on my shirt, did I put deodarant on all seem to be things that I can never remember whether I did or did not do. Most of these are harmless (unless I begin to sweat at which point a smell like a pound of hickory smoked bacon hot out of the skillet. Makes me so hungry I have to eat!) but the one thing I seem to forget the most is to zip my fly. I have walked into so many places with my zipper at half mast that it seems like I should buy those old man pants with out the fly that have the elastic waist. You know the pants they come in white, baby blue and the color of brown that looks like two day old refried beans that have dried on your plate. (for those of you who attend the Grate family reunion you have seen them) For example, I have this one pair of dockers that are so old and tired(probably from trying to hold me in them) that the zipper has simply begun to fail. What happens is when I am in a meeting and I place my hands in my pockets it causes sufficent stress that the zipper simply unzips. This can cause embarrassment when the SVP of my division points it out. Which he has done on several occasions. So if you see me in my new "big" boy pants without the zipper you will know why. I have finally embarrassed my family enough that they went out and bought them for me. I will then feel the need to pull them up to the point where the only way I will be able to see out is to unzip the zipper. I am hoping that I can get a great deal if I buy them in the spring and summer colors. Then I can be the 300 pound man in Florida with the white shoes, the canary yellow pants that are pulled up around my neck. My wife will be jealous with all the girls who will want to hit on that combination : )
Well this is my last post for a few days for those of you who want to know my wife and I are taking our kids on a Disney cruise. We are really looking forward to taking them. My wife and I are really looking forward to dropping our kids off at the daycare and the kids area for a little R&R. I am sure that this trip will yield some great stories so I will share some of them upon our return. (my mom is our emergency contact so mom if the cruise people call they have something important to tell you so please let them finish before you tell them about work!)
The last thing is for those of you who don't know my cousin's Kelley and Holly both have blog's and actually their's was the inspiration for me to start one. I was reading Kelley's blog today about her grandpa and grandma and made me think do we really let everyone know how much we care about them everyday? I know I need to do a better job about it. So if you have a family member or friend that you have a "beef" with and it is keeping you from seeing them or talking to them I am asking you to think about how short life is. We need to take every moment we have to love each other. So tell that person you are sorry for not calling even if you are not and bury the hachet. Tell them you love them and then start over. So let me start now: to my immediate family(Kristena, Kaitlyn, Tyler, mom, dad, Kim, Tom, Wayne, Samuel, Josh , Justin, Loretta, grandma, grandpa, Leslie, Sydney and Nick) I love you! To Kelly, Marsha, Andrea, Keever, Jason, Holly and all other cousins, aunts and uncles and their respective kids I love you all. To all my friends who may read this you know that I care about you all and I will always be here if you need me(meaning Jacksonville if you were real friends you would not expect me to go somewhere cold to help you would you???). And to my cousin Kelley sunny and 65 today burr sure is chilly : )

It doesn't seem quite right that you can pick up in the middle of the year well, really not exactly middle and take a cruise. Did you get sea sick pills? Remember your bad ear. You could be spending most of your time draped over the railing with a bunjy (?) cord attached.
You do have a warped sense of humor but that is what makes you special.
I love you too and I know for a fact that Grandma and Grandpa would love to have you around more.
Keep writing I am enjoying it and wish you would write more often. give kisses and hugs to my grandchildren and you and kritena hug and kiss
I will tslk to you later. Do have a definite date to come to Florida so call me,
BIG CAROL
